Job Purpose: To ensure efficient daily packing of produce on nominated line.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• To supervise and train direct reports in accordance with the ASF values, policies and procedures.
• To ensure all produce is packed accurately in punnets, crates and pallets to customer specification.
• To ensure all packed produce meets quality, label and packaging requirements.
• To ensure that lines are cleaned regularly and closed down properly at the end of each shift.
• To ensure that all operating issues are reported in a timely manner to maintenance.
• To ensure all line personnel are appropriately trained.
• To ensure all line personnel adhere to food hygiene and health and safety policies and procedures.

Job Purpose:

Supervisory responsibility for a team of production line leaders and warehouse team leaders ensuring that all operational and warehouse activities are completed accurately, concisely and to the required standards of quality, legality and safety. A key part of the role is to coordinate the activities of the warehouse and packhouse ensuring continuity of supply and timely order output. The role requires the effective management of staff including the organisation of people, materials, labels, operational throughput and packaging.


Key Responsibilities:

* Responsibility for the supervision and ongoing operational performance of a team of warehouse and packhouse staff including support staff.
* To ensure that all information and systems required for the accuracy and ongoing effectiveness of the Prophet data input system is managed correctly and to the required standards.
* To work within a delivery, production and output schedule.
* To analyse the ongoing performance of the operation and staff ensuring high levels of performance and output.
* To schedule orders effectively, maximizing efficiencies and operational throughput.
* Ensure the ongoing accuracy and effectiveness of all paperwork and electronic traceability systems.
* To monitor the performance of equipment ensuring that any malfunction or breakdown is reported and remedied.
* To ensure the ongoing accuracy of all customer specific data including label management and product identification.
* Ensure effective housekeeping and safety standards are maintained.
* Cross train and develop staff, provide support and ensure that team members are instructed and supervised effectively.
* Support and manage KPIs and training for all staff under your authority.
* Supervisor management of the team to include time and attendance, staff registers, holiday, discipline and return to work interviews.
* Liaise with all operational and service departments to ensure that stock is maintained at the correct levels and is available.
* Responsible for the O.T.I.F out load to all of our customers.

* Ensuring load plans, temperature checks, and maximum pallet utilisation is undertaken and paperwork is filed and passed onto the relevant departments.
* Responsible for providing support data for input into detailed reports highlighting all activity undertaken, line performance, costings and labour.


Qualifications:

* Educated to national QCF level 3 in an academic or relevant vocational qualification.


Work Experience:

* Previous experience within a warehouse or packhouse environment in a FMCG supervisory capacity is essential.

* Experience of the prophet data input system is essential including data input, reconciliation and reports.

* Computer literate to a high standard with requirements for MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

* Experience of the requirements and demands of customers.

* An understanding of the supply chain for exotic fruits and vegetables.

Languages:

* Fluent English - Both written & verbal. Additional languages to a verbal standard would be beneficial.

Mobility:

* Flexibility with regards to location and working patterns. To ideally live within a forty-minute commuting distance of the base site.

Health & Safety:

* Operate in accordance with the company Health and Safety policy and agreed safety procedures.
Wear all protective equipment when entering Operational areas as appropriate. Adhere and work within company hygiene and medical requirements and ensure the ongoing compliance of all staff under your authority.

Job description

Our client aim to be the first choice for end of line pack handling equipment. We are a 'clean' manufacturing business that design and assemble bespoke machinery for the food industry.

We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and Purchasing Assistant.

You will report to the Purchasing team and be accountable for deputising the administration function in the business. Using good communication skills, accurate data entry/account entry and overseeing a diverse number of general Administration functions in the company to keep the day to day running of the business in a healthy condition.

The Role
* Deputise for Engineering Procurement Supervisor
* Process Purchase Orders
* Contact suppliers regularly by telephone and email to ensure delivery due dates are hit
* Data Entry, in order to monitor lead times/delivery of goods
* Concisely place machine build orders from a BOM - using Sage and Excel
* Liaising with stores/stock forecaster to ensure correct stock levels are maintained
* Updating prices and information surrounding items on Sage
* General administrative support to purchasing
* As this is a small business, experience will also be gained by supporting and assisting in other departments as and when required


The Person:
Ideally, we are looking for an individual that has had some previous experience of working within a small Procurement team. This should be seen as an excellent development opportunity as you will be working closely within a small team.

* You will preferably have previous purchasing knowledge, but a methodical, detail lead focus on workload/tasks is of the upmost importance
* Have very good face to face and verbal communicationskills
* Experience in working as a key individual in a small team
* Ability to work diligently and accurately is a must as there is a large amount of data inputting required when raising purchase orders on Sage, maintaining Excel spread sheets and updating PO's on Sage
* Whilst you will be required to work on your own initiative, it is essential that you enjoy being part of a small team and are willing to support others at challenging times
* Strong IT skills, and confidence in working with, MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook
* A good working knowledge and experience of SAGE 50 will be an advantage
* Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly
* Enjoys working in a fast paced exciting environment
* Previous professional experience in a relevant field would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be given
