We are seeking a person who can join our team in the packhouse and develop the skills required to run the day to day operation and supervising the workers to ensure the efficient operation of packing.

Reporting to: Packhouse Manager

Liaise with: Admin & transport office

Job Objectives

Ensure the packhouse is operated safely
Daily packing operations
Monitoring produce stock and rotation
Manage packing line administration
Maintenance of Quality Control procedures
Continuous improvement and training in the packhouse
Monitoring the safe & hygienic operation of all packhouse activities
Assisting with routine maintenance
Ability to have a basic understanding of packhouse machinery
Ability to communicate with the workers, flexible attitude and people management skills are very important with the ability to think quickly and make decisions. It is important to adopt a Firm, Fair & Friendly approach to your work.

Previous experience in soft fruit and a packhouse environment is essential. Job will be offered on a seasonal basis, but it also provides the opportunity for further permanent employment if you prove to be ambitious and motivated.

Working hours between 40-60 hours per week, seasonal variation depending on crop production. The packhouse operates on a 7 day week rota. Overtime after 48 hours/week @125% of basic salary

Days off: regular 1 day/week, optional extra time off given when possible to compensate for extra hours worked in the preceding period

Accommodation available in modern mobile homes on a shared basis at cost 50.00 per week plus gas and electric. We can provide assistance with renting local accommodation

Job Purpose:

To be part of a multi skilled team driving the performance of the business assets, ensuring maximum production uptime, whilst performing to high health and safety standards. Complete tasks and continuous improvement activities allocated to them in a timely and cost effective manner. Ensure PPM schedules are delivered on time and in full. Ensure that legislative requirements are maintained during work activities and tasks. Advocate and help to deliver the engineering strategy developed by the team.


Main Responsibilities:

Follow a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule for all plant and equipment.

Ensure that all tasks carried out within the PPM schedule are documented including activity, repairs, equipment status and the use of consumables and parts.

Promptly respond to any plant or equipment breakdown or fault.

Effectively communicate and escalate any fault, damage or condition that cannot be rectified.

Carry out PPMs and repairs in a safe and hygienic manner as stated within the company Quality Management System ensuring that operational efficiencies are not adversely affected.

Participate in the commissioning of new machinery and plant.

Ensure that all engineering documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner

Ensure that tools, toolbox contents and parts and consumables are documented into and out of any food handling area.

Ensure that any parts used are recorded to ensure that a minimum stock list is maintained.

Work alongside and liaise with service contractors.

Manage any secure systems including passwords.

Mentor and assist trainee engineers.



Shift Pattern: Tues - Sat or Sun - Thursday
Salary Package: up to 40k DOE
Start and finish time: 7am - 5pm
Holiday allowance: 30 days including bank holidays

Excellent role on offer for a CNC Programmer (Turner) looking for a new role in a successful and growing business in Leicester. Ideally a minimum 5 years' experience and apprentice trained. The successful candidate will also have experience in programming at the machine from drawings.
Due to the wide variety of materials the company machines and sectors the company work within, candidates will be required to have experience working on small batch, one off parts working to tight tolerances.
Experience programming Fanuc machines is essential. Experience with Doosan Lynx and Puma with C axis and driven tools would be advantageous. Also experience with Cad/Cam would be a plus.
Monday to Thursday 07:30am-16:30pm
Friday 07:30am-12:30pm
