CNC Programmer / Machinist - Contractor

Due to the continuing success of our JUDD engines in historic F1 and sportscar series and expansion into other racing categories and prototype manufacturing programs, we are looking for an enthusiastic CNC programmer / machinist to join our team programming and manufacturing precision parts. We are looking for a contractor to fulfill this role for an initial period of 6 months, which may be extended.

The ideal candidate will currently regularly be responsible for programming CNC milling machines. Preferably you will be conversant with Fanuc controlled CNC milling machines and Edgecam CAM software.

Training will be given where necessary but a positive attitude towards quality and deadlines is vital, as is the ability to use your own initiative and integrate into a highly experienced and dedicated team producing work to the highest standards.

This is a full time, factory based role with a 40 hr working week and no shifts.

• Responsible for ensuring all resource allocation is in place and checked and reviewed regular and all changes communicated making sure all drivers comply with all legal and regulatory requirements

• Take ownership of the site fuel master key and track all usage.

• Ensure working with the garage function that all vehicle servicing co-ordination is carried out

• Responsible for the Daily Tacho Master management system ensuring all drivers comply with all legal and regulatory requirements

• Responsible for all trailer checks including temperature and carry out regular audits

• Responsible for all cross-dock management

• Ensure regular AS400 housekeeping

• Display and promotes MMI behaviours

Supporting food safety, legality and quality through routine assessments of equipment, product and factory environment working with QA and Production teams to ensure compliance with technical systems.


• Collection of all samples for analysis in accordance with scheduled requirements, accurately inputting into required systems
• Carry out swabbing requirements in compliance with documented schedules
• Carry out documented ingredient and packaging inspection checks, feeding back results to the Intake Compliance controller
• Ensure test packs are made up to accurate weight and that all packaging tare weights are checked and updated.
• Confirm the accuracy of measuring equipment by performing calibration/verification checks including liaising with external companies where required. Maintain up to date schedules of all equipment ensuring equipment is operating within tolerance, actioning any out of specification in a timely manner ensuring equipment is available for factory monitoring checks
• Maintain and update Glass and Hard plastic and start up audit sheets and booklets
• Play an active role in the complaints reduction action plan working with the QA team and operations to drive high product quality standards
• Set up and run quality taste panels, including cooking products as required. Ensure full documentation of the panel, highlighting all individual issues
• Product quality assessment work as requested; SOL, EOL, over shelf life, consistency panels
• Control of completed factory paperwork ensuring paperwork is organised and easily obtainable for traceability and audit purposes
• Control of factory consumables through numbering/coding and issuing to operational departments
• Confirmation of detection methods for consumable items such as Metal detection checks on new batches of plasters, pens etc
• To be a key member of the site audit traceability team
• Work positively to drive continuous improvement in the QA systems
• Fully understand and comply with all department and company policies and guidelines
• Any other duties or project work may be assigned as deemed necessary to the needs of the business.

• Taste panel schedule compliance - completion rate KPI
• QA procedural third party and customer audit compliance - areas of responsibility, level of NC's raised
• Accuracy of data input and schedule compliance for samples and swabbing - Level of errors identified
• Calibration matrix up to date - Level of equipment calibrations and verifications completed within date


Experience in Food industry
Food Safety qualification at Level 2 or higher

Our client has a contract supporting a customer in the automotive industry with a 6 month fixed contract on offer for CNC contractors looking for a new role.
Benefits including an excellent hourly rate of up to 30 p/h, a minimum of 39 hrs per week guaranteed. However due to high workload and deadlines on current contracts, there is a lot of overtime available.
Responsibilities for the role include -
-Managing loading and unloading of the CNC machines (all aluminum materials)
-Current machining cycles run for around 3 hours so machinists will be expected to use their knowledge and skill to look at how programmers are working, look at speeds and feeds and find improvements to make it run faster.
-Great care and attention to detail- this is a high value product so Machinists will need experience with low batch work and working to tight tolerances.
- Working together with the quality team you will be identifying adjustments that may need to be made to programs
-Edit and program creates offsets
-Make entries into log books explaining what changes have been made and keeping work admin organized
All expenses in term of flights, travel and accommodation will be paid for or claimed back on a weekly basis.
