Job Purpose

Support the manufacturing operation by:

oproviding technical excellence to the business in your area of expertise;
ofacilitating knowledge development and transfer;
oproviding problem solving capability;
oidentifying individuals training needs and deliver training;
oimplementing process improvement which improve and increase business capabilities;
oIdentifying and exploring new technologies and where appropriate supporting the implementation of;
oprovide support to the Operations Manager and assist them in achieving their goal of developing and improving the overall operations facility within the business.

Key responsibilities and duties

Support the manufacturing operation by:

oBeing proactively involved in design and manufacture of new products, including prototype builds
oAssisting with technical resolution of quality concerns (internal and external customers)
oIdentifying and implementing process improvements across both own and supporting departments
oInvestigating and presenting to business new and emerging technologies and how they may benefit the business
oBuild customer relationships (internal and external customers)
oSupports the Production leaders in achieving their objectives/outputs through technical input
oSupports other members of the Operations Team
oIdentifying training needs by use of skills matrix, developing a training plan with Production Leader and championing the training in line with the plan to increase departmental skill levels
oProducing business documentation of processes, SOP's drawings, process change requests
oDevelop, maintain and report on process metrics
oEnsuring that all processes are Health & Safety compliant
o'hands on' involvement when necessary
oSupport external suppliers in meeting technical requirements
oSupport Operations Manager in achieving goals & objectives
oSupport capital expenditure appraisals through data and research
oRaise purchase requisition in line with Companies Authority Limits documentation
oMake contact with/visit suppliers and customers when necessary
o Attend relevant exhibitions to enhance technical knowledge, competence and identify new technologies

Qualifications required/ desirable

oILM Certificate of level 4 or above
oSix Sigma Qualification
oFLT License
oCertification in use of overhead crane

Experience required / desirable

oMinimum of 5 years' experience in required areas of technical specialism as per Appendix A within current or similar business
oCompetence in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making
oAbility to communicate with employees at all levels of the business
oUnderstanding and ability to work in an SME
oLean manufacturing/kaizen experience
