A growing business in the West Midlands looking for an enthusiastic, driven person with an engineering background.
The company are experienced in all engineering processes offering a very wide range of expertise from milling, turning, machining, bending and welding all types of plastics and metals including Tufnols and composites.
Our Team has many years of knowledge and experience and are looking to add to it a multi-skilled conventional machinist.
Great fulltime opportunity for a motivated, reliable individual.
Dealing with a wide range of products and materials to produce batch work in a quick time frame and to a high standard.
• Ideal experience in both MANUAL milling & MANUAL turning.
• Some CNC & fabrication work may also be required at times.
• Hours are Monday - Friday 7.30 - 4.30 with early finish Friday.
• Overtime is available at time a third.

Workforce are recruiting for an experienced Toolmaker for our client in the Birmingham.

Starting ASAP, this is a permanent opportunity for a well-established, well invested company with a strong heritage.

To be successful, you must have the following experience:
• Have experience working on conventional machining including mills, lathes, drills, grinders etc.
• Read and understand technical drawings to ensure all parts produced are correct.
• To build, repair and maintain press tools to fine tolerances
• Use recognised problem solving techniques to analyse tool problems, strip and rebuild of tools for maintenance / repair.
• Analyse and action of tooling problems in production.

Salary up to 30,000 plus overtime when the company requires.

Overview of position:
The machine programmer is responsible for creating machine programs utilising 2D engineering and machine programming software in an architectural aluminium fabrication facility.
• Knowledge and experience with 2D design software
• On-the-job Solidworks.
• CAD/CAM/ programming from a drawing or model into a machine-executable
• Knowledge of various machine tools and manufacturing processes
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
• Microsoft Office expertise
• Analytical thinker with excellent interpersonal skills
• Self-starter with the ability to function well in a team environment
Successful applicants need to be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and in a team environment.

The programmes we use are: Sigmanest, Solidworks 2020, ApliCAM and BricksCad 2D Software. The hours of work are:

Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm
Friday 8am - 3pm (one 4pm finish on a 6 week rota)

30 minute lunch break

On site parking. Free refreshments.

Main Duties:
Design Engineers will be Responsible for the design, detailing & technical specification of large
capital projects.
Including:
• Ensuring timely, safe and cost effective designs to customer/international specifications
• System design & technical calculations in support of Project Manager.
• Supporting procurement by advising on purchase order technical specifications
• BOM Management in conjunction with procurement manager.
• Technical supplier liaison
• Client Liaison
• SDRL management in conjunction with others.
• Following the company Quality, H&S and Environmental Management systems.
• Applying company design standards
• Resource planning.
• Specification of project related testing activities
• Liaison with design staff, Workshop Manager, After Sales Manager, suppliers and customers
during project implementation.
• Ensure compliance with all Regulatory requirements concerning the design and application of
equipment used on each project.
• Maintain Calder's operational systems related to project implementation and engineering
documentation.
Preferred Skills, Competencies & Experience:
• Qualified Mechanical Engineer
• Design Engineering responsibility for projects valued between 30,000 & 5,000,000
• Experience of rotating part machinery in power ranges from 30kw to 500kw.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and electro mechanical control systems.
• Experience of offshore or similar demanding Documentation regimes.
• Experience of working on manufacturing projects which incorporate heavy equipment.
• Confidence with I.T. packages.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with suppliers and customers.
• Technical knowledge of pumping systems and/or package-build equipment using motors and
diesel engines.
• A sound working knowledge of AutoCad/Solid Edge is required.
• Working knowledge of Quality Systems including documentation
• Experience of certification and association documentation would be useful, but not essential. Previous experience in the Oil & Gas industry preferred.
• Experience of process industry and hazardous area working preferred.
• Full clean driving licence required

AIM
Machine components ensuring they comply to the manufacturing drawing / approved documentation.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
* Set and Operate CNC Machine Centres (Fanuc/ G-Code)
* Read engineering drawings and understand the specifications and tolerancing.
* Able to use inspection equipment I.E. micrometres, Vernier's etc, also be able to use standard gauging , Rok-it , plug + gap
* Able to be responsible for their own routing inspection
* Generate and amend CNC machine programmes.
* Assist or instruct other operatives with set ups tooling and cutting details as necessary in order to get the best benefit from programmes
* Wherever possible, identify and obtain tooling, fixtures and machine programme requirements for jobs in advance of starting the job in order to reduce spindle stop time.
* Ensure that routine maintenance (lubrication, cutting fluid, machine cleaning etc) tasks are carried out at the required frequencies.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
* Experience in maintaining rough and finish milling, drilling, tapping, reaming and finish bore tooling is essential

Increased growth means this private family run precision Engineering business now seeks an experienced CNC Turner programmer Setter Operator to join the dynamic growing team.

DAY TO DAY DUTIES WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

• Setting and operating CNC Machines (Fanuc)
• Experience on ONE CNC CAD CAM would be ADVANTAGEOUS
• Working within a high precision environment to tight tolerances
• Experience of working on one off jobs (Large scale)
• Crane experience an ADVANTAGE
• Manual experience as Vertical Jig borer DESIRABLE
• Working with minimum supervision

FOLLOWING QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Three to five years' experience working within a tool room environment - ESSENTIAL
• Extensive programming experience on Doosan /FANUC controls - ESSENTIAL
• To program from engineering drawings - ESSENTIAL
