Our Client is the world leader in the provision of high precision dimensional metrology equipment, instruments and systems capable of accurately measuring to sub-micron level. In the UK they supply, install and support this equipment via staff based at 4 sites - Andover (HQ), Coventry, Halifax and East Kilbride.

Based at either the Andover or Coventry Metrology Centres, this role will deliver existing accredited C&G Metrology Units to a wide range of ages and abilities at any of our UK Training facilities (Andover, Coventry, Halifax or East Kilbride) or on site at customer premises as well as to identify and develop further units.

This role would suit an CMM/Metrology Specialist who is looking for further progression within Metrology environment. Our client offers a chance to gain full training in a precision metrology software.

Day to day duties will include the following:
•Training companies and personnel on best and correct use of equipment
•Technical support on Metrology equipment
•Using production and inspection techniques
•Work independently representing the company at our own sites and at customer premises
•To actively assist in resolving Application Support Calls using the CRM System
As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:
•An excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal. (essential)
•Completed an Engineering Apprenticeship or have production shop floor/quality control experience. (essential)
•Be confident in using measuring equipment, particularly Mitutoyo, CMM's or have transferable skills - specific training will be provided where necessary. (essential)
•Be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge and appreciation of dimensional metrology. (essential)
•Experience in working within a C&G accredited centre. (advantageous)
•Experience in resolution of Technical Support calls. (advantageous)
•Experience in the use of Microsoft Office; windows functionality and excellent keyboard skills. (essential)
•A willingness to learn, be very well organised, flexible and self-motivated and to travel. (essential)

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contributes to the maintenance of quality standards at all stages of production process and take lead in various quality processes and procedures to ensure 100% compliance and customer satisfaction.

REPORTS TO: Quality Manager

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Key activities are:
•Performs product or process troubleshooting as necessary, assist direct personnel with same. Interfaces with Design Engineering, Manufacturing
•Purchasing or other groups on issues pertaining to product acceptance or rejection.
•Run NCN system and ensure maintenance of the system.
•Raise 8Ds on Supply base for any non-conformances (internal customers and external customers - Follow up to obtain responses in a timely manner) and ensure effective & timely closure.
•Carry out in house containment activities, manage quarantine and logs accordingly
•Communications with supply base and ensure compliance to customer requirements
•Carry out sample inspection on goods in
•Be first point of contact for Production issues and ensure this is communicated accordingly.
•Preparation in carrying out supplier Audits/ visits
•Carry out internal Audits
•Lead in the analysis and disposition of non-conforming material. Work using a PDCA structure seeking real root cause, implement/verify corrective actions and read across lessons learnt.
•Set up a standard work routine to align to preventative as opposed to reactive actions.
•Observe and analyse current methods, processes and make recommendations to bring about improved process/product quality, work simplification and cost reduction.
•Using input from field data/customers and internal non-conforming material as well as other pertinent sources regarding product quality, develop and implement plans to control and monitor quality improvements.
•Work with plant resources to meet monthly and annual key metrics.
•Liaise with all suppliers and customers at all levels building strong key relationships.
•Draft, advise and implement quality standards, process and procedures throughout the organisation ensuring quality improvements
•Contribute and advise on calibration, tolerances and test parameters.
•Manage inspection and testing methods and procedures
•Preparation of all quality reports and proposals providing recommendations wherever necessary
•To impart and establish external quality systems/checks prior to delivery
•Implement continuous improvements through setting KPI's and data management
•Willingness to undertake admin tasks alongside strategic and tactical ones.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

To support new design, and design changes on existing products, through the use of: 3D CAD modelling; draughting and; change notes. To advise on technical application of Portables products globally.

REPORTS TO: Business Line Manager - Portables with dotted line to Engineering Supervisor

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Produce detailed: 3D CAD models; drawings and technical specifications to a standard that meets or exceeds performance, technical, safety and on budget;

Support testing of products and concepts either working with the Test and Development engineers or undertaking test work themselves recommending modifications following prototype test results

Liaise with the development team to ensure that the customer driven improvements are effectively introduced with minimum impact when productionised in line with quality processes;

Applies mechanical engineering principles, expertise and creativity to produce new application engineered designs on time to meet customer requirements, liaising with sales/ customer service, manufacturing, production engineering, quality and supply chain as necessary to ensure the new designs meet customer requirements, are cost effective and production ready
Creates and reviews documentation in order to avoid systematic failures in functional safety, including mechanical drawings, BOMS and specifications
Provides wide ranging technical support as required to customers and all areas of the business, including: sales; customer service; manufacturing; supply chain and; quality departments and ensures that this is provided speedily and accurately
Liaises with certification bodies to arrange new or updated certification as required
Good understanding of problem solving to be able to interrogate information and identify key opportunities to improve the product;
Making sure a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments;
