We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer on behalf of a well-established and rapidly expanding automotive manufacturer based in Coventry. This is a fantastic time to join this flourishing business who have increased supply into several of their major OEM customers which has led to record sales for the business in 2017.
The role:

First point of contact for all customer concerns, ensure prompt and robust containment is implemented internally and at customer site. Issue and track quality alerts. Owns the process for completing 8D/PPS for customer concerns, has excellent problem-solving skills to ensure any corrective actions taken are correctly implemented to ensure repeat concerns do not occur.
Day to day duties will include the following:
_You will report into the Quality Director, working within a team of 12 in the Quality department
_Take responsibility for the upkeep of Quality to customers, working closely with many prestigious OEM Automotive brands
_Responsibility for solving problems utilising 8D / Practical Problem Solving (PPS) techniques
_Adhering to TS16949 at all times
_Documentation of parts/products through PPAP/APQP/MSA
_Updates Process Control Plan and inspection instructions in line with any issues
_Raising, monitoring and reporting on supplier concerns
As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:
_Previous experience working within the Automotive Industry (Essential)
_Extensive problem-solving skills (Essential)
_Experience of interfacing with customers (Advantageous)
_Internal Auditing Experience - TS/IATF16949, ISO14001, ISO9001 (Advantageous)
_You will have experience of working closely with customers, resolving customer quality concerns (Advantageous)
_A strong understanding of quality tools such as 8D/PPs, APQP/PPAP/MSA (Advantageous)
_Ability to read and understand engineering drawings including understanding of GD&T (Advantageous)
_Willing and able to visit customer sites sometimes at short notice (Essential)

The role:

You will work directly with the site Quality Manager in the improvement and control of processes on site together with the control and maintenance of the Quality Management System. The role will also entail acting as department deputy in the quality manager's absence. The Job Holder will be recruited to join a small efficient team which will fully support production in meeting our customer requirements. Training will be given as required to enable the successful candidate to fulfil their tasks.

Day to day duties will include the following:

•Handling & investigation of non-conformities, complaints and concessions
•Implementing PFMEA for production processing and working with production management and technical authorities to improve processes.
•Assist the quality manager with audits including customer, NADCAP and ISO9001/AS9100
•Ensure that internal audits are being performed and reviewed
•Carry out key supplier audits
•Inspection of Aerospace, Motorsport, Medical and other components in line with customer requirements
•Ensuring that all site calibration and maintenance activities are being performed to schedule along with the review & approval of these activities

As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:

•Good experience of ISO9001/AS9100 standards (Essential)
•Experience in quality management environments and good leadership skills (Essential)
•Excellent problem-solving skills are required to resolve technical issues and drive process improvement changes. (Essential)

We are seeking a highly motivated individual ideally from the high precision and CNC machining industry to support and assist the daily production machine shop activities. This is a hands-on role where the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate ability to plan, program, set and implement machining tasks on a variety of Fanuc Control CNC machines. A strong background in manual machining techniques would be an advantage along with supervisory experience.

Key Responsibilities:
_Constructing and proving CNC programmes for new components.
_Assist the production engineering team in the design and commissioning of fixtures and tooling necessary for machining new components.
_Training and development of operators to ensure proper execution of the defined processes.
_Assist with the management and planning of production / workload in accordance with business priorities.
_Continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to achieve cost, quality and delivery objectives.
_A good knowledge of appropriate cutting data for machining a variety of materials including aluminium, stainless steel, cast iron and naval brass.
_Skills / Competencies

As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:
_Strong knowledge of the equipment within a machine shop, experience of manufacturing precision parts to tight tolerances on CNC machines, lathes and millers.
_The ability to program both driven Y, C axis lathes and more essentially vertical milling machine centres.
_A good knowledge of CNC programming techniques, production fixturing and production tooling design
_Ideally have experience of both turning and milling on manual machines and demonstrate hands on capability.
_Excellent communication skills and a proactive team player
_Knowledge of CMM machines particularly Faro would be an advantage
_Knowledge and understanding of Fanuc control systems
_Ability to set and operate as required.
_Knowledge of TPM programs an advantage
_Ability to provide solutions to decrease cycle times and overcome day to day machining issues.
_Flexibility and ability to adapt to change

Education and experience:

Ideally the successful candidate will hold a relevant qualification in Mechanical and / or Production Engineering, however candidates who have considerable experience are also encouraged to apply.
CNC programming and setting experience is essential (Fanuc controls)
Understanding of lean manufacturing (TPM, 5S, ETC)
General computer skills
